30A final reflection

Image
1) There were many highs, lows, and moments of dreads in this semester for this course. The definite low was when I realized that the first six assignments I had done for the class did not count because I messed up the URL submission. Knowing that the class was out of 100 points, I was devastated to find out that I was not going to be able to earn an A in the class. The moment of dread was the last week of February as I was preparing to leave for a mission trip to Honduras. I had so many assignments due before spring break and having the trip meant I had to finish all those assignments by Wednesday. That was a tough situation.  2) The most formative experience for me was coming up with a business idea for this class. I had never taken any type of entrepreneurship class before and having to come up with an idea right off the bat really forced me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow.   3) Although I would not call myself entrepreneur-minded yet, I do think that ...

29A venture concept

1)   Opportunity The opportunity for my business idea is one of the strengths of my product since it deals with a universal need. Anyone who owns a cellphone has faced the issue of having their phone dying due to low battery, which makes everyone who has a phone a potential customer. The nature of the need is that people want convenience and fewer problems in their life. The environment and society are becoming more technology-oriented which is creating a huge opportunity for my business idea. New phones and technology are getting released every day. However, there has not been a phone with a self-regenerating battery yet. The product is innovative enough where people will show interest but not overwhelmingly innovative where people would be intimidated by it. The market for this product ranges widely but is probably more attractive to younger people who are more used to adapting to new technology. However, since this is not a new technology that requires a lot of learning, it...

28A your exit stragety

Here's what you should do and write up for your post: 1) Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children?  I do not intend to sell my business in the next 5 years for a large return. The reason for this is because my vision of the company is eventually expanding into other segments of technology. Eventually, I do want to retire owning the same business and protect the venture as a family business and pass it down.  2) Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?  I have selected this particular exit strategy because of the vision I had of my business. Also, I would like for my children to continue the legacy of my business making it a family business.  3) How do you think your exit strategy has i...

27A reading reflection 3

The Long Tail 1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?  The general theme and the argument of the book are that in online markets, lots of niche goods tends to outsell fewer hit sells.  2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?   The book puts emphasis on producing the product and distributing more than focusing on making a perfect product. This relates to the course because the class puts emphasis on getting the product out there.   3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?  I would have students come up with multiple business ideas that are decent but not perfect.  4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?   The quote "Up until now, the focus has been on dozens of mark...

26A - celebrating failure

1)  The biggest failure that stands out to me this semester was missing the first six assignments of this class due to not submitting the URL for assignments. This failure is composed of multiple failures such as failing to check my canvas email to realize I had missed the assignments the first time or reading the syllabus with care to notice the small details.  2) I learned to check my emails and read the syllabus with care. I also learned that the consequences of laziness are significant. It was an eye-opening experience for me to take academics more seriously than I had before.    3)  When I experience failure, it usually hurts for the first three days. I tend to get depressed and think way too much about why I failed and such. However, after those three days, I tend to be more positive and is able to reflect on the things I learned from the failure. Through this class, I realized that failure hurts, but is not the end of the story. After rea...

25A Whats next

Existing Market.  Step 1: The next move for my venture for the existing market would be providing a phone with a self-regenerating battery. Step 2: Interview 1 Matthew Mazzeratti How do you feel with my business idea of providing a phone with a self-regenerating battery?   Ans: Yea I feel like that is a great idea! What should we do that we aren’t planning to do? Ans: I think you guys should really consider the price and how to develop the technology. What do you think the customers want? Ans: I think the customer would like the new technology but it would have to be reasonably priced. Interview 2 Shaun Rogozinski How do you feel with my business idea of providing a phone with self-regenerating battery? Ans: I think it is a good idea What should we do that we aren’t planning to do? Ans: I think you guys should consider how appealing it might be to customers What do you think the customers want? Ans: Customers might want something more innov...
